Shark Racing Scaling Back, Parks No. 1A Team
Shark Racing has parked its No. 1A Sprint Car team, effective immediately, leaving touring rookie Ashton Torgerson without a ride while the organization continues its World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with Logan Schuchart aboard the flagship No. 1S.
The decision was made by team co-owner Jacob Allen in a statement released by the 19-year-old Torgerson, who had been 13th in WoO points through 17 series races. The Hanover, Pa., team has not publicly detailed whether shelving the No. 1A team is temporary or long-term.
"This is a hard post for me to make, but effective immediately, Jacob Allen has made the decision to park the team," Torgerson said in the social media statement. "Iām incredibly bummed, but more than anything, Iām thankful. I canāt thank Bobby Allen and Jacob enough for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime ā the chance to wheel the legendary Shark Racing 1A and chase my dream at the highest level.
"Together, we made memories Iāll carry forever, shared a lot of laughs, and had some incredibly fast race cars along the way. For that, Iāll always be grateful."
Shark Racing, founded by the late Bobby Allen who passed away at 81 last October, hired the Medford, Ore., teenager last April following Jacob Allen's retirement and had planned on following the entire WoO circuit this season.
They won their second race together last April 27 at BAPS Motor Speedway ā which ended up being their only victory together. In 77 races together, they compiled six top-fives and 22 top-10s over that span.
Shark Racing parked the No. 1A team as part of a decision made by co-owner Jacob Allen, although the specific reasons have not been publicly detailed.
Ashton Torgerson is currently without a ride following the decision to park the No. 1A team, and it is unclear if this situation will change.
Shark Racing has not publicly stated whether the decision to park the No. 1A team is temporary or long-term.

Despite the setback, Torgerson made it clear he intends to remain on the World of Outlaws circuit.
"To my crew, sponsors, fans, and everyone who believed in me through this journey ā thank you for standing behind us every step of the way," Torgerson said. "Your support meant everything. With that being said, Iām not done. My goal is still to stay on tour with the World of Outlaws and continue chasing this dream.
"If anyone has leads, opportunities, or knows someone I should talk to, Iād greatly appreciate any help. This isnāt the ending ā just part of the story. Weāll keep pushing forward. Thank you all."
