The Cleveland Browns face uncertainty at quarterback with Deshaun Watson's struggles and Shedeur Sanders' inconsistent rookie season. Andrew Berry's recent comments leave the QB situation open for further developments.

The Cleveland Browns entered the offseason without a clear answer at quarterback. Deshaun Watson came off two Achilles surgeries and his worst stretch of play in 2024. Shedeur Sanders showed flashes during his rookie season but struggled through most of his seven starts. Dillon Gabriel fought just to stay on the roster.
The picture stayed murky, and none could say with confidence who would be leading the NFL offense in 2026. That uncertainty opened the door for more questions.

Could the Browns bring in another quarterback despite already drafting Gabriel and Sanders last year while waiting for Watson to return from injury?
General manager Andrew Berry did not shut the door on that possibility when he spoke with reporters recently. He kept things open-ended, true to his usual approach, and refused to rule out adding another arm to the mix.
âI think itâs possible that we could. Quite frankly, itâs possible that we could add to any position. Thatâs really the truth. And I wouldnât disqualify quarterback,â Berry noted, per Mary Kay Cabot.
Andrew Berry's comments indicate that the Browns are keeping their options open regarding the quarterback position.
Shedeur Sanders showed flashes of potential but struggled during most of his seven starts in his rookie season.
Deshaun Watson's poor performance following two Achilles surgeries has contributed to the uncertainty surrounding the Browns' quarterback plans for 2026.

Sanders didnât exactly light up the stat sheet during his rookie campaign. He threw for 1,400 yards across eight games while completing just 56.6% of his passes. He tossed seven touchdowns against 10 interceptions, finishing with a 68.1 quarterback rating.
Those numbers didnât scream franchise quarterback, but the Browns went 3-4 in his starts, which carried some weight internally.
Watsonâs experience should matter, but his 1-6 record before the Achilles injury in 2024 raised serious doubts. The offense sputtered under his leadership, and two surgeries on the same leg made his return even more uncertain.
Sanders worked his way up from the bottom and gave fans a reason to believe he could develop into something. Gabriel remained a long shot to make an impact.
Todd Monken took over as head coach, bringing a shift in philosophy. Whether that philosophy included drafting another quarterback in 2026 remained the biggest question hanging over Clevelandâs offseason.
