From Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase to Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith, the NFL has a rich history of college quarterbacks reconnecting with their former teammates at the pro level, and a Missouri wideout wants to add one more to the mix.
Kevin Coleman Jr., a standout for the Tigers, told reporter Kay Adams that he would like to reunite with former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland. Sanders and Coleman played together at Jackson State at the FCS level in 2022, connecting for 510 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions.
"Nah, that's my guy," Coleman said of Sanders. "I'm super happy for him, proud of him for where he's at right now, proud of the guy he's becoming, but that would be crazy. Freshman year, the chemistry we got, [he's] just a great guy. I'd love to go back and play with him as well."
Coleman praised Sanders' work ethic and said he's only going to get better from here because he knows that Sanders is consistent.
"I just know the type of guy he is; he's never complacent," Coleman said. "That's why I'd love to play with a guy like him, he's only gonna get better from here."
After spending his freshman year with Sanders, the 5-foot-11 Coleman bounced across three Power 5 teams, Louisville, Mississippi State and ultimately Missouri. Over those three years, Coleman racked up 2,026 yards and 12 touchdowns, with a vast majority coming in his junior year as a Bulldog.
In addition to his receiving, Coleman was a staple of the special teams unit at his three Power 5 stops. Most notably, returning a punt 67 yards to the house against Arkansas last season. Coleman is projected to be a mid to late-round pick, but he'll have to wait and see which team calls his name during the NFL draft on April 23.
