For Eintracht Frankfurt, Matchday 34 at Deutsche Bank Park against VfB Stuttgart is about nothing less than a place in European competition. SGE could play in the Conference League next season and thus give the fans more magical nights on the international stage.

To reach seventh place, however, the team from Hesse will need a little help, as SC Freiburg currently have a one-point lead.

Freiburg would have to drop points against RB Leipzig for Frankfurt to overtake them. At the same time, SGE must win their home game at Deutsche Bank Park or – if Freiburg lose – at least earn a draw. Thanks to their better goal difference (-4 to -9), Frankfurt would come out on top if the teams finish level on points.

Attention is also on Augsburg, who are currently level on points and face Union Berlin. In the best-case scenario, Frankfurt should therefore match FCA’s result to keep their rivals at bay. Since the team from Hesse have a better goal difference (-4 to -12), their chances of finishing ahead here are good as well.

It is shaping up to be a nail-biting finale that is certainly not for the faint-hearted! “We believe in it and we will fight. Against Stuttgart too. With our fans behind us, we want to win. Then we’ll see,” said Nathaniel Brown ahead of the showdown.

Regardless of the outcome of this year’s Europa League final, Matchday 34 will decide who secures the Conference League ticket. Because even if Freiburg finish seventh, win the EL title and play in the Champions League next season, eighth place would not automatically qualify for the Conference League. Instead, the Bundesliga would have no team in that competition next season.
