Laurent Landi is joining his wife's staff at Georgia as associate head coach of the women's gymnastics team. Cecile Canqueteau-Landi became co-head coach of the GymDogs after the Paris Olympics, and is now the sole head coach after Ryan Roberts left for Auburn last month.
"So excited to be working together again! GO DAWGS" Canqueteau-Landi said in an Instagram story reacting to the announcement.
Landi moved to Georgia when Canqueteau-Landi began coaching there. He has spent the last two years as a consultant, working with the Mexican and French national teams as well as several U.S. clubs.
The GymDogs have made a resurgence under Canqueteau-Landi. Their sixth-place finish at the NCAA championships this year was their best since 2016, and their seven All-American honors was the most since 2014.
"Seeing (Landi) at every home meet becoming more and more invested, I had a feeling he would eventually want to join me in helping bring this program back to the top," Canqueteau-Landi said in a statement. "His experience, passion, and commitment to excellence will make such a positive impact on our student-athletes and our future."
The Landis are French, and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi represented France at the 1996 Olympics. They moved to the United States in 2004 and rose to prominence as coaches of Madison Kocian, who won a title on uneven bars at the 2015 world championships and helped the U.S. women win team gold at the Rio Olympics the following year.
They moved to World Champions Centre, the Houston-area gym owned by Biles' parents, in 2017 and began coaching the seven-time Olympic champion when she returned to training the following year. While with the Landis, Biles established herself as the greatest gymnast of all time.
In addition to her record 41 medals at the Olympics and world championships, Biles has five gymnastics skills named after her. She also is one of three women to win two Olympic all-around titles, and the first to do it at non-consecutive Games.
The Landis also coached two-time Olympian Jordan Chiles and Paris alternate Joscelyn Roberson. Laurent Landi was named USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and the couple was inducted into the federation's Hall of Fame in 2023.

"The opportunity to work with Cecile again is something I'm truly excited about, and I look forward to helping push UGA to even greater heights," Landi said in a statement.
