The Philadelphia 76ers are taking measures to prevent New York Knicks fans from purchasing tickets for their upcoming playoff games. This follows a previous playoff matchup where the Knicks eliminated the Sixers in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.
The Philadelphia 76ers are doing everything they can to prevent New York Knicks fans from taking over Xfinity Mobile Arena during the upcoming NBA Playoffs series between the two teams.
After falling behind 3-1 in the series, the Sixers advanced past the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA Playoffs on Saturday night and will now face the Knicks in the next round.
This is a rematch of the 2024 playoffs, when the Knicks took down Philly in the first round that year.
With Philadelphia being so close to New York, Knicks fans are not going to be afraid to buy tickets to the 76ers’ home games during the series.
76ers star Joel Embiid made a plea to Sixers fans to not allow that to happen.
“I just have a message for our fans,” Embiid said. “The last time we played the Knicks it felt like this was Madison Square Garden East. We’re going to need your support. Don’t sell your tickets. This is bigger than you.”
“There’s going to be some people that need the money,” he added “But don’t do it. … If you need money, I got you.”
In the wake of Embiid’s plea to fans, the Sixers are doing all they can to stop Knicks fans from invading the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
According to a post on the team’s website, ticket sales will be limited to those located in the “Greater Philadelphia area.”
The Sixers are implementing measures to restrict ticket sales to ensure that Knicks fans do not dominate the crowd at their home games.

The team plans to make sure that is the case by confirming residency based on the credit card billing address of the purchaser.
“Xfinity Mobile Arena is located in Philadelphia, PA,” the statement said. “Sales to this event will be restricted to residents of Greater Philadelphia area. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside Greater Philadelphia area will be canceled without notice and refunds given.”
Rest assured, Knicks fans are going to be calling anybody they know in Philly to get around this.
