The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 2027 recruiting class, but await a decision from in-state recruit Case Alexander.
No. 1-ranked recruiting class in 2027 isn't enough for the Oklahoma Sooners. They are still trying to take it even higher, and could with a commitment from elite four-star linebacker Case Alexander. He's also in-state as his final year of HS football will be played at Washington next season.
But, having that in-state advantage isn't as big as it usually is. The Sooners have some stiff competition for Alexander, as Penn State seems to be a team that also really, really wants him. And, to be frank, he wants them, too, because who wouldn't want to play with their older brother? Alexander's older brother goes to Penn State, and surely he's done some recruiting of his own. Those are the two schools he will likely decide between.
"If it were a perfect world, I would probably decide before June," Alexander told Parker Thune of Sooner Scoop. "That might not happen; I might end up taking two OV's. I'll just kind of see; I need to sit down, pray about it, talk to my family, and figure it out in the next few weeks."
Alexander's older brother, Cooper, is a redshirt sophomore tight end at Penn State. Their father, Stephen, played tight end at Oklahoma in the 1990s before a decade-long NFL career. With family connections on both sides, Alexander is seeking input from both as he nears his recruitment decision. And, this is a tough decision-it can literally make or break the start of his college career.
Case Alexander is deciding between the Oklahoma Sooners and Penn State.
The in-state advantage is diminished because Case Alexander's older brother plays for Penn State, influencing his decision.
Case Alexander is ranked as a four-star linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class.
His commitment could further elevate Oklahoma's already top-ranked 2027 recruiting class.

The 6'3, 215-pound linebacker from Washington, Oklahoma, has a visit with the Sooners June 12-14 and Penn State June 19-21. The Sooners get to have the first impression on the four-star LB for this round of visits. OU has had five visits with Alexander, while Penn State has just had two. And, we all know when you get to Norman and on campus with the staff, those visits can change everything.
"It's been awesome getting to know Coach Venables and Coach Dreiling," said Alexander. "I really feel like they've made me a priority, which I've appreciated. As I said, I feel like I've seen everything and know the staff decently well, so it's just gonna come down to me making that decision⊠I don't feel like there's anything I haven't seen or need to see. It's just gonna come down to what's most important to me."
Oklahoma currently has two LBs in its 2027 recruiting class. They have Cooper Witten and Taven Epps, two four-star LBs who can play on ball and off ball. Landing Alexander would make that group one of the very best in the entire class, if not the best.
