A new week, a new team atop the South Jersey Mean 15 softball rankings.
Here's a look at the top teams in the region as the season heads into the last part of April.
(Records and stats are through games played by April 15)
1. Gloucester (4-0, last weekās ranking: 2). The Lions extended their winning streak to 15 (dating back to last year) with a 3-1 victory over Williamstown. Gloucester will return to the diamond on April 17 after an eight-day break. Senior Gabbie Maldonado leads the club with eight hits and a .533 batting average.
2. St. Joseph Academy (10-0, 3). The Wildcats pushed across two runs in the seventh inning to earn a 5-3 victory at Vineland on April 15. The team has posted 103 runs in its 10 games with Alaina Dorsey crossing home plate 22 times and Isabella Ramos scoring 16 runs.
3. Northern Burlington (9-1, 6). The Greyhounds captured the Rancocas Valley Elite Tournament knocking off the host school and then-No. 1 Cherokee on the final day en route to the title. Emily Shiner fired a 13-strikeout, one-hitter against Cherokee in a 1-0 win in the championship game.
4. Rancocas Valley (7-2, 4). The Red Devils rebounded from a second-place finish at the RV Elite Tournament with consecutive wins over Lenape and Cherokee by a combined four runs. The team has clubbed 12 total homers, including six by Ava Sweet and three for Brielle Bozarth.
5. Cherokee (5-3, 1). The Chiefs face some adversity with three losses in their last four games, all of the setbacks by one run to Northern Burlington, Allentown and Rancocas Valley. Allie Cunnane and Luci Dandrea share the team lead in RBIs with 15 apiece.
6. Ocean City (8-2, 11). The Red Raiders extended their winning streak to four with a 5-3 triumph over Egg Harbor Township on April 15. Sophomore Leah Catto is batting a team-best .581 and also paces the club in runs scored (21), doubles (seven) and walks (nine).
7. Kingsway (8-2, 7). The Dragons sandwiched wins against Clearview, Washington Township and Pope John XXIII around a 6-1 loss to Ocean City. Senior Reese Whitzell leads the team with 12 RBIs and is second with six stolen bases.
8. Clearview (6-3, 5). The Pioneers overcame a five-run deficit to capture an 8-6 victory at Delsea on April 15. Senior Grace Redheffer had a pair of hits and RBIs in the game.
9. Bordentown (5-2, 15). The Scotties had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 5-0 loss to Nottingham on April 14. Junior Alyssa Crusen has a team-best nine hits.
10. Delran (8-2, 8). The Bears bounced back from a 6-3 loss to Cinnaminson on April 13 with a 10-0 victory over Burlington Township two days later. Sophomore Gemma DeJoseph has been one of the areaās toughest outs, posting a .606 batting average with 20 hits, including 10 for extra bases (five doubles and five triples).
11. Audubon (5-3, 10). The Green Wave halted a two-game skid with a 10-0 victory over Collingswood on April 15. Kylie Cannaday and Addison Leahan combined for the five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts.
12. Triton (6-2, NR). The Mustangs return to the rankings with four straight wins, including the last three by shutout. Sophomore Ava Scuderi has spun two of the shutouts, striking out 24 batters in the two outings. She has three straight double-digit K games and has 50 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings this spring.
13. Cherry Hill East (4-0, NR). The Cougars make their season debut in the Mean 15 rankings. Junior Evelyn Stover is 10-for-17 with two walks and two stolen bases while junior Peyton Curtis has driven in a team-best eight runs.
14. Seneca (7-2, NR). The Golden Eagles scored a 3-2 win over Rancocas Valley on April 9 before falling to Cherry Hill East the next day. Junior Emily Buddendorf has collected a team-high 15 hits while junior Madison Heller and freshman Angelyn Vaughan lead the squad with eight runs apiece.
15. West Deptford (7-1, 13). The Eagles have tallied 86 runs over their eight games. Freshman Kaylee Morales is batting .609 with seven walks and 11 runs scored.
