The EFL has said that the hearing into Southamptonâs spying charges will be heard on or before Tuesday 19 May â but is planning for them to play in the Championship play-off final next Saturday 23 May.
But the Football League warned there could be changes to the fixture depending on the outcome of the investigation into Southampton and an appeal into the verdict.
Saints face two charges after an analyst was allegedly found spying on their play-off semi-final opponents Middlesbrough last week, which is a breach of Football League regulations.
Southampton, who drew the first leg 0-0 at the Riverside, then beat Boro 2-1 at St Maryâs on Tuesday and are set to face Hull City at Wembley Stadium.
They will appear before an independent disciplinary commission and potential punishments, if they are found guilty, could involve expulsion from the play-offs or a points deduction.
Middlesbrough are pushing for a sporting sanction and manager Kim Hellberg has accused Southampton of cheating.
And Boro are thought to be preparing in case they are readmitted to the competition and replace Southampton in the final.
Tickets will go on sale from Tuesday but, in a sign things could change, the EFL warned supporters to be careful when booking travel and accommodation and warned that they do not control the timescale.

The EFL said in a statement: âThe EFL continues to plan on the basis that the Championship Play-Off Final will take place as scheduled on Saturday 23 May, with the kick-off time confirmed as 4.30pm.

âSupporters should, however, be aware that the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings may yet result in changes to the fixture. The EFL has a number of contingency plans should they be required, which also includes consideration of any appeal process, if required.
âThe League recognises that this complex situation has caused concern and disruption for supporters, particularly those making travel arrangements, and will continue to provide as much clarity as possible.
âHowever, in these clearly exceptional circumstances, the League considers this to be the most appropriate course of action.â
