The Dallas Stars made a big roster announcement on Friday, one day before the start of Round 1 of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.
Stars general manager Jim Nill confirmed the two-year contract extension of defenseman Nils Lundkvist. This new contract will take effect starting with the 2026-27 season and will end at the conclusion of the 2027-28 campaign.
Lundkvist's, 25, new contract has a total value of $3.5 million and carries an average annual value of $1.75 million.
"We're excited to lock up Nils for two more years," said Nill, via the Stars' official website. "He is a highly skilled defenseman with excellent mobility and vision. His ability to move the puck and create offense makes him a valuable piece for our team moving forward."
