Chase Claypool, a former second-round pick by the Steelers, is attempting an NFL comeback by participating in the Packers' mini-camp on a tryout basis. After struggling with performance in recent seasons, he aims to revive his career.
A former second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020 is attempting to make an NFL comeback.
Veteran wide receiver Chase Claypool is participating in the Packers mini-camp on a tryout basis, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.
After a pair of 800-plus yard receiving seasons, Claypool showed great promise in Pittsburgh as a member of the Steelers, but started to slide in 2022 when he was traded to the Chicago Bears after eight games. After spending a great deal of money on Claypool, the Bears ended up playing him in 10 games (five starts), and he totaled just 18 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown.
In 2023, for the Miami Dolphins, he caught only four passes for 26 yards in nine games. During the 2024 season, Claypool would get an opportunity with the Buffalo Bills, but wouldn't make it through training camp, and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
The Green Bay Packers may be looking for more veteran depth at the wide receiver position, but they're deep at the position already, so an opportunity with Green Bay isn't a guarantee.
