The Steelers hosted three pre-draft visitors at the teamâs South Side facility today, Steelers Nowâs Alan Saunders reported: wide receiver Germie Bernard, quarterback Taylen Green, and offensive lineman Spencer Fano.
Bernard and Green were previously reported; you can read BTSCâs scouting report on Green here.
Fano, however, is a new name to add to the Steelersâ pre-draft interest tracker. The 6â5, 311-pound lineman was a one-year starter at left tackle and two-year starter at right tackle for Utah, where he won the Outland Trophy as college footballâs best lineman in 2025.
âFano lacks ideal proportional build but compensates with loose hips, quick feet and high-end athleticism,â NFL.comâs Lance Zierlein wrote in a pre-draft profile. âHe has the tools to mirror speed rushers, wall off the top of the pocket and find a late anchor when taking the worst of a bull rush. He needs to stay square longer to prevent inside moves and refine his punch approach/timing. His athletic profile is designed for move-based blocking schemes where he can pull, reach and climb while beating opponents to the spot with quickness/feel for hitting landmarks on time. He gives good effort as a downhill blocker but issues with pad level and core strength lead to him being overtaken as the rep progresses. Fanoâs level of NFL success might be tied to scheme fit and individual matchups.â
Fano scored a 9.74 RAS ahead of the draft, but his 32 1/8ââ arms are below usual NFL tackle standards; many foresee a move to guard in the future.
Fano is currently a consensus first-round pick, with NFL Mock Draft Database listing his overall rank as No. 11. He isnât usually forecasted to fall to where the Steelers pick at No. 21.
With a few more visits to be announced, the Steelers have now hosted five potential first-round players for pre-draft visits: Fano, Toledo safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson, USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, and Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston.
