The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to trade up in the draft to select offensive tackle Spencer Fano from Utah, potentially at pick No. 13. This move aims to bolster their offensive line by providing immediate starting options.
With the news on Monday that the Pittsburgh Steelers were hosting former Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano was in for a pre-draft visit it really got us thinking the Steelers are going to trade up. So we put together a new mock draft update and for the simulation, we did trade up with the Los Angeles Rams to pick No. 13 to land Fano and see where the draft went from there.
First round - OT Spencer Fano - Utah
Fano is an immediate starter at either tackle or guard spot and fills two potential roles. If Broderick Jones can't start the year, he starts at tackle and if Jones does play, Fano can either play right tackle and let Troy Fautanu kick in to left guard or Fano can play it himself.
Second round - WR Chris Brazzell II - Tennessee
Brazzell is a field-stretching receiver who works hard on every route and could create mismatches lined up on the inside with his speed and acceleration.
Third round - TE Max Klare - Ohio State
The Steelers are on the hunt for a No. 3 tight end and Klare is one of the best dual-threat guys in the draft. He's a dynamic pass catcher, solid athlete and willing blocker.
Third round - CB Tacario Davis - Washington
The Steelers have shown interest in Davis who has the frame to back up on the outside and the speed to stick with smaller receivers on the inside.
Fourth round - QB Cole Payton - North Dakota State
If the Steelers want a big physical quarterback built for the AFC North and playing in bad weather, Payton is an excellent developmental option.
Fourth round - RB Emmett Johnson - Nebraska
We aren't sure if there's going to be a spot for Kaleb Johnson in this new offense to we add the former Nebraska workhorse as a depth piece.
Fifth round - DT DeMonte Capehart - Clemson
Capehart hasn't played up to his physical potential but he's got a high ceiling as an inside/outside lineman and great value here.
Why are the Pittsburgh Steelers trading up in the draft for Spencer Fano?
The Steelers are trading up to secure Spencer Fano to strengthen their offensive line, as he can play both tackle and guard positions.
What position does Spencer Fano play and how will he impact the Steelers?
Spencer Fano is an offensive tackle who can also play guard, providing the Steelers with immediate starting options depending on the status of Broderick Jones.
Which team did the Steelers trade with to select Spencer Fano?
The Steelers traded with the Los Angeles Rams to move up to pick No. 13 in order to select Spencer Fano.
