Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson is identified as a potential trade candidate after a disappointing season. Injuries limited his playtime, and with new additions to the roster, he may be on the trading block this offseason.
When the Pittsburgh Steelers selected former Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, hopes were high. Wilson was fresh off a big season with the Wolverines, where he started 15 games and caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. Now, according to SI NFL Draft analyst Justin Melo, Wilson is a prime candidate to be on the trading block this offseason.
Wilson was going to be the answer for the Steelers in the slot but instead everything fell apart. After suffering an ankle injury in the first padded practice of training camp, Wilson wasn't able to get on the field until Week 6 of the regular season. However, after playing just a handful of snaps, Wilson ended up being put on IR with a hamstring injury.
2025 was supposed to be a comeback year for Wilson. The team had very few options at wide receiver but it didn't help as Wilson got only four starts and finished the season with just 12 receptions. With the addition of Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Germie Bernard, Wilson is buried at the end of the depth chart and likely on the roster bubble. The Steelers could try and deal Wilson with the sales pitch of a fresh start and a chance for playing time is all he needs.
