Callum McFarlane, Chelsea's interim boss, defends Cole Palmer's abilities, stating he is still a top player despite recent criticisms. McFarlane believes Palmer's earlier contributions were crucial to the team's success.
âStill a top playerâ â Callum McFarlane disagrees with the narrative on Chelsea player
Chelsea interim boss Callum McFarlane has a differing view on Cole Palmerâs form than many others out there right now.
Personally, I donât think we are seeing the best Cole Palmer right now and we havenât been for a while. When he first came to the club from Manchester City, he literally carried this team for a whole season and if it wasnât for him, things would have been very bad. It became Cole Palmer FC at one point. But since then, heâs not quite showed the same top levels and had the same effect. For me, thatâs just a fact, and for many others it is as well because Iâve seen all the analysis and opinions.

Callum McFarlane stated that Cole Palmer is still a top player, despite not showing his best form recently.
Cole Palmer was instrumental in Chelsea's performance last season, often being referred to as the player who carried the team.
Critics believe that Cole Palmer has not been performing at the same high level as he did when he first joined Chelsea from Manchester City.
The narrative suggests that Cole Palmer is underperforming compared to his earlier contributions, which has led to differing opinions about his current status as a player.

But McFarlane does not agree apparently. And of course, heâs entitled to his opinion. But in this instance, I think his opinion is incorrect, and so will many others.

In words quoted by The Evening Standard, McFarlane said:
âI donât agree with the narrative that he isnât playing well. I think there are games where he can impact more. But thereâs also been a lot of occasions where heâs created a lot of good chances for players.
âHe canât control whether thatâs finished [off], he can just put the ball in the position that he needs it to be. I do think heâs had some really good games in the last three months, and itâs just a case of building that consistency.
âHeâs still a top, top player, one of the best in the world for me. So I have no concerns over Cole being ready to impact games from now to the end of the season. And hopefully in the World Cup, in big moments for England.
âThereâs not much difference, in all honesty. Heâs the same person. He plays the game. Weâve all watched Cole Palmer enough to see the freedom that he plays the game with.
âHe sees things that other people donât see. It was very similar. He was just doing it at a higher level against a higher level of opposition. But very much the same type of player.â
Moises Caicedo is currently struggling for form, but Aston Villa star Matty Cash has claimed he does something better than most other players.
Marc Guiu is keen to leave Chelsea this summer, and his preference would be a loan move back to Spain according to reports. I personally believe Chelsea should just sell him permanently now and make some quick cash on him.
