BRONSON β The Bronson softball team had energy and excitement on the field Thursday evening.
It helped the Vikings overcome a slim early deficit in the opening game and led them to a sweep of visiting Hanover-Horton. Bronson won the first contest 6-2 and the second 19-7.
"I was very pleased with the energy and joy we brought to the game tonight," head coach Becky Gray said. "We play so much better when we play with energy. We are still working on some things defensively, but I thought we hit the ball well tonight."

Madison Shaw pitched the Vikes to the win in the opener, tossing all seven innings and striking out six.
At the plate, Delanee Carpenter drove in four runs with a single and a double, Hermosa Gonzalez connected for two singles. Roni Bir had two base hits as well, driving in one. Lydia Wells and Braelynn Gimenez each connected for a hit in the game.
Ashlynn Harris pitched Bronson to a win in the second game. She struck out seven over five innings of work.

Bronson had a strong offensive showing in the game. Carpenter collected three hits while Harris struck for two doubles, a triple and drove in two. Wells slugged a home run, added a double and drove in four.
Hermosa Gonzalez also connected for a home run, she collected a pair of singles and two RBIs. Bir drove in two with a pair of hits, plus stole three bases. Gimenez, Makenna Arnett, Audrey Shiery and Kalyeah Shoup all drove in runs with base hits.
Bronson improved to 12-4.
The White Pigeon softball team beat up on Lawrence Thursday, winning 23-0 and 20-0.
Mable Post picked up the win in the first game, striking out six. Madison Cavasos pitched the Chiefs to a win in the second game with five punchouts.
Riley Richardson led the offensive attack. She collected three doubles, a triple and drove in eight runs. Emily Barton registered three doubles, three singles and drove in five while Post and Cavasos each totaled four hits and four RBIs. Sydney McClure finished with a single, two doubles, a triple and two runs driven in while Kadance Smith logged four hits and drove in one. Jennafaye Zehr collected three hits and drove in three, Maddie Wiley added three hits with two RBIs and Dey Castro had two hits with two runs driven in on the day. Both Alaina Lukowski and Lily Myers had run-scoring hits.
The Centreville softball team won two games over Cassopolis on Thursday, 6-1 and 11-0.
Drew Alexander belted a walk-off homer for the Bulldogs in the second game. Kaylee Griggs also clubbed a home run in that contest. Nikki Lennard and Quinlynn Lutz both singled and doubled, Teagan Tesman, Ava Bingaman and Karleigh Miller each collected a hit.
Lutz pitched the Bulldogs to the win in both games.
In the opener, Marley Rexford registered three hits. Tesman had a double, triple and two RBIs while Griggs had two hits and two RBIs. Lutz doubled-in two while Lennard, Miller and Alexander all registered a hit.

The Mendon softball team improved to 14-1 on the season with three wins this week.
The Hornets registered wins over Bellevue 18-2, Bangor 16-1 and Athens 16-1.
Against Bellevue, Sabrina Monroy had a big day at the plate with a home run, single and double while driving in three. Rowan Allen collected three hits in the game and drove in four runs, Jadyn Samson added an RBI triple. Taya Bingaman and Cienna Nightingale each drove in two while LaShell Blair, Brynley Jungers and Kennedi Sand each registered run-scoring hits. Samson pitched the Hornets to the win with four strikeouts.
Allen pitched the Hornets to the win over Bangor, striking out 10. At the plate, she collected two hits while driving in three runs, Samson finished with two doubles and a run driven in. Monroy slugged two doubles while driving in two, Bingaman also had a run-scoring double. Nightingale finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Allen got the win against Athens as well, striking out eight. She also smashed a homer for the Hornets. Bingaman totaled two hits and Samson hit a triple. Nightingale, Monroy, Blair and Kinsley Zinsmaster each had run-scoring hits while Emma Williams was credited with two RBIs.
The Sturgis softball team swept Battle Creek Central last week, winning games 26-0 and 22-4.
Sophia Crites led the offense with six hits on the day, she drove in five runs. Gracie Pagels totaled three hits with five RBIs while Nataliegh Jarratt drove in five with a couple of hits. Both Haylee Pappas and Kendall Oxender connected for three hits with three RBIs, Colette Harker drove in four total runs with two hits. Jocelyn Finley had a run-scoring hit, Kloie Wilson drove in four total runs and Breylyn Shank had three runs driven in, Nora Naliwajko had two hits and drove in one.
Pagels and Shank each picked up a victory inside the circle, they combined for five strikeouts.
