PORTLAND — The Sturgis girls tennis team had a successful weekend.
The Trojans traveled to Portland to take part in a four-team tournament there and won all three of their matches. Sturgis won nearly every match on the day, beating Portland and Williamston by 8-0 scores plus a 7-1 victory over Ludington.
The wins helped push Sturgis out to 12-3 on the season so far.
In fourth singles action, Bella Currier won all three of her matches. She remains unbeaten on the season and sits at 15-0 so far. Currier won her matches on Saturday by scores of 6-1, 6-1 over Ludington; 6-0, 6-1 over Portland and 6-2, 6-1 over Williamston.
In the matchup with Williamston, Sturgis won comfortably in singles action. Cora Phillips beat Ashlyn Schafer at first singles with scores of 6-0 and 6-0; Gracie Perry beat Jalee Trombley at second singles 6-2, 6-1 and Mazie Sterling picked up her win over Scarlett Walther with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles play saw a couple of matches go three sets. In the first doubles match, Mya Eicher and Katelyn Halling picked up a win over Tessa Jesse and Abby Redoutey 6-0 and 10-7 after dropping the first set 6-0. The second doubles team of Hannah Ritchie and Marlee Smith won their first set over Nina Talberg and Hailey Dunckel 7-5, but dropped the second 6-2. Sturgis' duo rebounded to win the third at 10-4.

In third doubles, the team of Bailey Cates and Ella Whitehead won over Audrey Grocki and Addison Hitchcock with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Lilly Whitehead and Stella Barry registered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Madison Merritt and Anna Reynolds at fourth doubles.
Against Portland, Perry beat Reese Burns 6-0, 7-5; Sterling beat Kinley Thayer 6-3, 6-1 and Phillips defeated Amari Adler 6-0, 6-2.
The first doubles team of Halling and Eicher registered a 6-2, 6-2 win over Allison Saint Amour and Rylan Johns while at second doubles, the team of Smith and Ritchie won over Katelyn Bruse and Emma Foren 6-4, 6-1.
Ella Whitehead and Cates won at third doubles over Emily Leik and Olivia Setter at third doubles, 6-2 and 6-4. In fourth doubles action, Lilly Whitehead and Barry beat Miya Feldpausch and Annabelle Simon 6-1, 6-0.
Sturgis swept the matches against Ludington when it came to singles action. Phillips beat Ava Johnson 6-2, 6-1; Perry beat Sawyer Hendrickson 6-2, 6-1 and Sterling won her match 6-2, 6-1.
Halling and Eicher claimed a 6-3, 5-7 and 10-6 win over Kristi Phillips and Ella Micka at first doubles. Ella Whitehead and Cates won over Amaya Sytek and Maggie Tang at third doubles 6-4, 5-7 and 10-6 while Lilly Whitehead and Barry won over Madelyn Erndteman and Isabelle Brower 6-1, 6-0.
Smith and Ritchie were upended at second doubles by Kenney Feyers and Lydia Kwietniewski 6-1, 7-5.
