Sunderland are reportedly plotting an ambitious move to bring Manchester United winger Amad Diallo back to the Stadium of Light, according to The i Paper.
The Ivorian international, who became a cult hero during his loan spell in the 2022-23 season, is at the centre of transfer speculation as the Black Cats look to bolster their attacking options.
Amadâs previous stint in the North East proved transformative. Under then-manager Tony Mowbray, the young attacker scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 42 appearances.
His technical brilliance, flair, and knack for spectacular goals were instrumental in guiding Sunderland to an unlikely play-off finish.
He was subsequently named PFA Championship Fansâ Player of the Year and Sunderlandâs Young Player of the Year.
Since returning to Old Trafford, Amad has become a first-team regular but is currently enduring a dip in form. He has yet to register a goal or assist for Manchester United in 2026 and was underwhelming off the bench against Liverpool last time out.
Despite flashes of his talent, consistency has been an issue for the 23-year-old, who remains under contract until 2030.
Sunderland is looking to enhance their attacking options and believes Diallo, who was a fan favorite during his loan, could be a key addition.
During his loan spell in the 2022-23 season, Amad Diallo became a cult hero among Sunderland fans, contributing significantly to the team's performance.
While Sunderland is reportedly plotting a move for Diallo, the success of the transfer will depend on negotiations with Manchester United.
