Szoboszlai unhappy with sloppy first half as Liverpool lose to Man Utd
Dominik Szoboszlai says Liverpool âshould not be happy at allâ with their performance in the first half as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.
The Red Devils got off to a fast start as Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha both scored inside the first minutes of the game.
Liverpool managed to get level within the opening ten minutes of the second half. Szoboszlai waltzed through the United defence before slotting the ball home and Cody Gakpo capitalised on a poor pass from Senne Lammens to equalise.
Kobbie Mainoo made the decisive action, however, scoring from 20 yards out to seal Champions League qualification for next season.
âNot good as we go home with zero points,â Szoboszlai told Sky Sports. âAfter the first half, we should not be happy at all. We should just take from this game at the beginning of the second half.
âBecause that is where we showed who we are.
âBefore the game, when we spoke about set pieces and then you concede from a set piece. Then, you also talk about counterattacks and the second goal happens from a counterattack, I donât know. We have to be more focused.
âIn the end, hopefully the luck will stay on our side.â

Asked if he has taken on more of a leadership role, Szoboszlai responded: âYou have to ask the other ones. I try to do my best and try to drag them with me.
âTake them with me. Hopefully, I set an example day by day and game by game. That is going to be my plan for the last three games.
âI think so [standards have to come from him], but we have a lot of players, I try to be one of them.â
Asked if Liverpool can take any learnings into next year, Szoboszlai answered:Â âFirst, I donât focus on next season. I focus on these three games because we have a lot of things to achieve. We want to play Champions League because Liverpool belongs there.
