LSU football has secured a commitment from Braylon Calais, a four-star athlete out of Carencro, Louisiana, per On3ās Shea Dixon. Calais is Lane Kiffinās fourth commit in the 2027 recruiting class, coming in as the second-highest rated recruit Kiffin has signed so far. LSU beat out Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Miami, and Houston for Calaisā commitment.
Calais is a top-200 recruit in his class, ranked as the No. 10 ATH and No. 9 recruit in Louisiana, according to 247 Sportsā rankings. He has experience on both sides of the football, though 247 Sportsā Gabe Brooks says Calaisā ceiling āmay be highest at a defensive back-seven position.ā Either way, his 6-2, 200-lb frame makes Calais an enticing prospect who could prove useful at several positions at the next level.
Kiffin does his best recruiting closer to national signing day, but Calaisā commitment should ease Tiger fansā concerns about LSUās currently thin class. So far, the class is headlined by four-star quarterback Peyton Houston, four-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, and four-star wide receiver AhāMari Stevens.
Kiffin is working to flip a few other highly ranked recruits, so donāt be surprised if Calais is only the beginning of an LSU recruiting run.
