Talks between Bayern Munich, Newcastle for Anthony Gordon are ‘amicable, but complicated

Sources have described the talks between Newcastle and Bayern as amicable, but Newcastle made it clear they do not want to sell a player they signed for £45m for a small profit, and will seek around £80m. They have pointed out to their German counterparts that Gordon has become an important part of the England team and scored 10 goals in the Champions League. He has also shown he can play as a centre forward as well as on both wings, which only increases his value. Gordon has not behaved badly at this stage and it has been explained to the player and his representatives that he will only be allowed to depart this summer on terms that are acceptable to Newcastle. Newcastle United has some leverage here, but Gordon and his agent could also apply some internal pressure if he truly wants to move. Bayern Munich, though, has proven to be staunch in its negotiating stances in recent years for transfers.
