Tennessee rookie misses WNBA game due to concussion protocol
Las Vegas (2-1) defeated Connecticut (0-3), 98-69, Wednesday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Former Tennessee women's basketball player Janiah Barker did not play for the Aces due to being placed in concussion protocol.
Barker was selected in the second round of the 2026 WNBA draft (No. 29 overall) by Las Vegas. She has not appeared in a WNBA regular-season game during her rookie season.
Barker appeared in 27 games, including 21 starts, in her only season at Tennessee (2025-26). She averaged 14.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Prior to playing for the Lady Vols, she played at Texas A&M and UCLA.
Barker was the 47th Tennessee player to be drafted to the WNBA and the first who played for Lady Vols' head coach Kim Caldwell.
She was the first former Lady Vol to be drafted since Rickea Jackson was selected as a first-round pick in 2024 by Los Angeles. She was selected No. 4 overall by the Sparks and was traded to Chicago.
