Terrence Brown’s stay at the University of Utah lasted only a season, but he made an indelible impression.
Now, the star point guard is headed to a blue-blood program.
Brown announced on social media Tuesday that he is transferring to North Carolina. He’ll join the Tar Heels with one year of eligibility remaining.
Brown, who announced his entry into the transfer portal on April 6, joined the Runnin’ Utes last season after two years at Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Minneapolis native led Utah this past season, averaging 19.9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.
He also shot 45.3% from the floor, 32.7% from 3 and 77.5% from the free-throw line in captaining the Utes’ offense.
Brown scored 20 or more points on 18 occasions last season, including a career-high 36 in an overtime win over Weber State and 33 in a loss at Kansas State.
At the time he committed to North Carolina, Brown was rated the No. 42 player in the transfer portal, according to On3’s industry composite rankings.
Brown isn’t the only former Ute headed to a blue-blood program. Forward Keanu Dawes is staying in the Big 12 and transferring to Kansas.
