Texas A&M will face Ole Miss in a doubleheader on Saturday due to inclement weather. Game 2 starts at 2:00 p.m., with Game 3 following one hour later.
Before No. 7 Texas A&M (36-10, 15-8 SEC) takes on No. 20 Ole Miss on the road for Game 1 on Friday night, it was announced that, due to incoming inclement weather in Oxford, Mississippi, Game 2 and 3 will now become a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, as both teams will have a quick turnaround after Friday's 6:300 p.m. start.
On Thursday, second-year coach Mike Earely announced that, for the first time this season, junior LHP Shane Sdao will now start on Friday night, and will be replaced by Clemson transfer Ethan Darden, who has served as the team's middle-relief option alongside Gavin Lyons through 46 games.
Sdao's consistent struggles, including giving up six earned runs against the Auburn Tigers last weekend, led to Earley's unsurprising decision to make the change, knowing that current sophomore Aiden Sims has continued to look like the program's ace, while junior Weston Moss is coming off his best start of the season with six strikeouts and just one hit and one run allowed.
On Saturday, Sims will start in Game 2, while Earley will have the option of starting Sdao or Moss, and Gavin Lyons, closer Clayton Freshcorn, will also be available for either game. According to Texas A&M's media team, Game 2 will start at 2:00 p.m., while Game 3 will start exactly one hour after Game 2's conclusion, providing both teams time to eat/rehydrate.
