With a little room left in its 2026 recruiting class and a need for another young edge rusher, Texas football made a late addition to its squad Thursday with the surprise signing of Brinley Tita from powerhouse Summer Creek High School in the Houston suburb of Humble.
Tita, who doesnât have a recruiting ranking from 247 Sports, only had an offer from Division II program Henderson State immediately after his senior season, according to 247 Sports. In February, he signed with Cisco College, a junior college in West Texas.
But the Texas staff, specifically defensive line coach LaAllan Clark, feel like they have a diamond in the rough in the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Tita. He played out of position as a defensive interior lineman for Summer Creek, which competes in a loaded district that includes perennial powers Galena Park North Shore and Humbe Atascocita. As a senior, Tita posted 94 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, seven hurries, three forced fumbles, two blocked field goals, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery in 14 games while earning the districtâs Co-Defensive Player of The Year award.
Tita also competes in the shot put for Summer Creek, and he set the school record with a 625-pound squat last summer. That record especially impresses since Summer Creek has produced multiple FBS linemen recruits over the past few years, including former Texas All-American and current New Orleans Saint Kelvin Banks Jr.
