Texas Longhorns football has offered a scholarship to 2028 offensive lineman Joey Fleming from Alabama, who has also attracted interest from several top programs. The Longhorns aim to strengthen their recruiting class as they compete against schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame for Fleming's commitment.
As Longhorns football looks to improve its 2028 class, they have shifted its focus to the offensive line. On Tuesday, they offered Alabama native Joey Fleming. During his high school career, Fleming has made headlines with his play and caught the attention of some of the nation's top programs.
While the Longhorns would get a boost with Fleming on the roster, they are not the only program in the mix. During the recruiting process, the Huntsville High star has received offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame. Those are not easy schools to go to battle with, but Texas has made its interest clear early on.
For Steve Sarkisian and his staff, the next step will be to get Fleming to the Forty Acres so he can see what his future as a Longhorn may hold. The talented offensive lineman has already taken visits to Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Vanderbilt. That list should continue to grow as Fleming weighs all of his options.
Currently, the Longhorns have not secured a commitment from a player in the 2028 class. However, they have been busy making connections with some of the top prospects on the board. They have made offers to four-star recruits such as Neimann Lawrence, Micah Rhodes, Brysen Wright, Deandre Bidden, Braxton Rein, R'Monie Edwards, and Jalanie George.
Over the next few months, Fleming will be a player to watch. The Longhorns have had success developing offensive linemen, which could help them in their pursuit of the Fleming. If they can add him to the mix, the Longhorns' offense will have one less spot to worry about.
