“The feeling” – Fabrizio Romano gives latest update on new Chelsea manager search

But the fact is at the moment, I don’t think any of us will know who the new manager will be until the end of the season, which is when the club are expected to announce them.

There is a load of speculation flying around in the mean time though, but none of it is holding much weight to it at the moment. Even news of Xavi being contacted yesterday was quickly shut down by top sources.

Romano’s latest on manager search

Romano reported yesterday:

“There is nothing ongoing between Chelsea and Xavi Hernandez. That’s my understanding as of today.

“If tomorrow morning they decide to meet. I will let you know. But as of today, beginning of May, zero contacts between Xavi and Chelsea.

“Chelsea continued their process to find a new manager. The feeling at the club is that they are still at early stages, talking to candidates, representatives of candidates, and preparing the final list. But still nothing advanced, still nothing decided.”

Chelsea have ruled out an attempt to bring Xavi Hernandez in as their new manager according to Ben Jacobs’ reporting today. What’s odd is that it was Jacobs who reported Chelsea made contact with Xavi just moments before he said this!?
