The Independent detail key Xabi Alonso demand as Chelsea talks progress

Xabi Alonso wants assurances on the ability to build a project if he’s to become the next Chelsea head coach according to reports.

Chelsea are once again looking for a head coach after they sacked Liam Rosenior last month, less than four months after appointing him.

Rosenior became the second head coach to leave Stamford Bridge this summer following the departure of Enzo Maresca in January.

Xabi Alonso wants assurances over building a project at Chelsea

Chelsea are believed to want their head coach in place before the start of the World Cup next month, and are said to have a shortlist of five or six names.

Xabi Alonso is said to be the preferred candidate, whilst Andoni Iraola is also believed to be a strong contender for the job.

Chelsea have reportedly also made checks on Marc Silva, Filipe Luis and Oliver Glasner, but they aren’t believed to feature  as highly in the club’s thinking currently.

Alonso is said to be seeking assurances over transfers, and The Independent have reported he also wants assurances on the ability to build a project if he’s to take the job.
