The phrase Brandel Chamblee used to describe Jordan Spieth’s chances of completing the Grand Slam

*“*He hasn’t won a tour event since 2022. He used to be a great player and look, I know we’re not supposed to pull for individuals, we’re supposed to be sort of agnostic, but everybody in golf pulls for Jordan Spieth.

*“*He’s such an exciting watch and he’s just one of the best people in the game of golf.

“Everybody knows that and everybody respects him, and I think that would be, you know, a monstrous story.“

Far-fetched is probably the answer most people would give if asked about Spieth’s chances of winning at Aronimink this week.

However, we all know that the Dallas native has the ability to lift the Wanamaker trophy, if he somehow manages to put all departments of his game together this week.

He has driven the ball exceptionally well at times this year but when he has, he’s putted poorly, and vice-versa.

Even if Spieth does manage to bring his ‘A’ game to Aronimink this week, he will face another problem, perhaps an insurmountable one.

Can you imagine the pressure on Spieth’s shoulders if he is in contention to win the PGA Championship on the back nine on Sunday?

Rory McIlroy experienced exactly the same thing at Augusta National in 2025, and he just about managed to limp over the line in the end.

With every year that passes, Jordan Spieth’s chances of winning the PGA Championship diminish more and more.

The players he’s competing against are becoming better and better, and the longer his wait for a Wanamaker trophy goes on, the more of a psychological issue it will become for him.

Hopefully he proves a lot of people wrong and reigns supreme at Aronimink this week, but it must be said that the chances of that happening are slim to none.
