One of the Tennessee Vols’ top basketball portal targets is Wake Forest Demon Deacons transfer guard Juke Harris. The North Carolina native was recruited heavily by Tennessee in high school.
One of the Tennessee Vols’ top remaining portal targets is Wake Forest Demon Deacons transfer guard Juke Harris.
Harris, 6-foot-7/200 pounds from Salisbury, NC, averaged 21.4 points per game as a sophomore for Wake Forest this past season.
The former Wake Forest standout is reportedly considering Tennessee, Michigan, and North Carolina.
Harris is expected to command an NIL deal worth around $3 million.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, there’s “growing confidence” that Tennessee can close the deal with Harris.
“Speaking with multiple sources on Tuesday, there is growing confidence that Tennessee can close this out,” reported Nakos. “Harris is expected to land a deal north of $3 million, which Tennessee is ready to pay. Barnes and Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes are also friendly, which could work in the Vols' favor. Harris is still going through the NBA draft process, which could drag out a final decision.”
The Tar Heels, at this point, are believed to be Tennessee’s biggest competition for Harris.
“Rick Barnes is taking that one on kind of personally,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price Wednesday on 104.5 The Zone. “He has been working [Harris]. It felt like Michigan four days ago. He went there first (on a visit). He got there and (Michigan) had this championship celebration. But the further we get away from that, the more this feels like a Tennessee vs North Carolina battle.”
Tennessee has an existing relationship with Harris after recruiting him as a high school player (Harris was UT football’s win over Alabama in 2022).
The NBA still looms as a possibility for Harris. But for now, it sounds like the Vols have a very good shot to land the coveted transfer guard.
