‘They show us what is necessary here at this club’ – Man City midfielder says title-winning experience can be a huge boost in title race

Tijjani Reijnders says the experience of winning titles within the Manchester City squad can give them an edge in this season’s title race.

Reijnders helped his side reach the FA Cup final with a 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.

But the attention now switches back to the Premier League title race, with City trailing Arsenal by three points having played a game less than their rivals.

“Very important. I think it is also the experience in our group,” Reijnders replied when asked about how beneficial the experience within the squad of winning titles can be for this Man City team.

“A lot of players who did it before. They show us, the new players, the mentality, what is necessary here at this club. It is a good thing.

“We are mentally prepared very well. We all know what we want. Everybody is going in the same direction in the team.

“We go game by game. Six more games left, five in the Premier League. It is a good battle between them and us.

“Every game there is a pressure. I think that makes us stronger and makes us want to do even better. It is a good thing.”

Reijnders has found game time difficult to come by of late but said he was delighted with being afforded an opportunity in the FA Cup semi-final.
