Before the 2026 season began, the Milwaukee Brewers made a trade that some fans were not too sure about. The front office sent RHPs Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers to the New York Mets in exchange for prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat.
Fans weren't sure what to make of them sending their ace pitcher to another team for a pair of prospects. However, the rotation has remained strong.
Jacob Misiroowski is leading things with his 2.45 ERA and 70 strikeouts, while the rest of the rotation outside of Sproat have at least two wins. But the starting staff isn't staying deep into games as some have hoped.

While the rotation is doing its job, there are some concerns. They aren't going as deep into games as some would hope, putting more pressure and more innings on the relief pitchers in the bullpen.
This could hurt the bullpen as they could see some injuries jump out at them with the amount of innings they have been pitching. With this, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller tags Milwaukee's rotation as the 10th-best across MLB, and not higher.
"For a rotation with 10 wins, 10 quality starts and an MLB-best 10.2 K/9, 10th place feels kind of perfect for the Brewers. The reason it doesn't rank higher is that it hasn't been a particularly durable bunch, averaging 14.3 outs per start—hence the minimal supply of wins and quality starts."
Some of these starters need to go deeper into games if the Brewers want to put themselves in the best position to win another divisional title. They can't continue to put this pressure on the bullpen if they want them to be effective later down the stretch.
