The Detroit Tigers got off to a bit of a slow start this season, but things have turned around for the better lately, winning eight of their last 10 games.
Sitting at 12-11, the Tigers look poised to be buyers at this year's deadline if they can keep this up. And if they do buy, there is one very clear need the team needs to address: center field.
Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report highlighted center field as the team's top need and linked the Tigers to a Toronto Blue Jays outfielder as a trade target in .770 OPS standout defensive outfielder Daulton Varsho.
"With Meadows sidelined once again, the trio of Baez, Matt Vierling, and Wenceel Perez have been filling in," Reuter writes. "No one from that group is an ideal everyday option, and Daulton Varsho is one name to keep an eye on as a potential trade target if the Blue Jays continue to struggle."
After the massively unfortunate injury to Parker Meadows, the Tigers' need for center field help became very apparent.
Javier Baez, Matt Vierling, and Wenceel Perez aren't the worst options in baseball, but if the Tigers are to try and win the World Series in 's probable last season with the team, trading for a new starter makes a ton of sense.
Daulton Varsho has a .770 OPS, which indicates he is a strong offensive player, making him a valuable target for the Tigers to improve their center field position.

If they do swing such a trade, Varsho, the Blue Jays outfielder who has a .770 OPS this season with high-quality defense in center field, would be a great target.
He's currently in the final year of his club control, so he won't cost too much for the Tigers to acquire. He missed some time due to injury in 2025, but he looks healthy and back to normal this season.
But would the Blue Jays trade him? It's not out of the realm of possibility at all. They're off to a rough start this season with a 9-13 record. They have a ton of injury issues, and if things get any worse, they could easily be sellers this year.
Reuter linked the Tigers to Varsho if the Blue Jays' struggles continue, and this fit would make a ton of sense for the Tigers if a trade could be worked out.
