The Los Angeles Rams are expected to target a wide receiver in the upcoming draft, with Makai Lemon and Denzel Boston being top prospects. Teams believe Boston could be a viable option despite not being a consensus first-round pick.
Though the Los Angeles Rams havenât outright said theyâre going to target a wide receiver early in the draft, the general consensus is that they will. As great as Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are, they need a No. 3 receiver to pair with them â and a viable successor for when Adams either retires or leaves in free agency.
Makai Lemon has been linked to the Rams more than any other player in mock drafts but heâs not the only wideout Los Angeles could take in Round 1. According to Todd McShay, teams around the league also believe the Rams are eyeing Denzel Boston out of Washington.
Boston isn't a consensus first-round pick, which makes it fascinating that teams think the Rams could draft him. Thereâs no chance heâll be available for them at No. 61 in the second round, but might he be a trade-back option for Los Angeles?
âThe receivers are not as high, but there are some teams out there lurking that look at Tyson just like you look at Tyson, so donât push back on this," McShay said. "Youâve told me all along that Jordyn Tysonâs the best receiver if you tell me heâs going to be healthy and play. If youâre the Chiefs, if youâre the â I donât want to throw the Rams in there because some teams think the Rams are Lemon. Some teams think the Rams are Denzel Boston.â
Most experts have Carnell Tate, Lemon and Jordyn Tyson as the top three receivers, but after that, itâs fairly open. Boston could be WR4, as could KC Concepcion or Omar Cooper Jr. Even Chris Bell is someone who could go earlier than expected.
Whether in the first, second or third round, the Rams seem likely to take a wide receiver fairly early. It could just come down to which flavor they like.
Do they want a slot receiver whoâs elusive with the ball like Lemon? Do they want more of an X-receiver in Tyson? Boston is big and physical like Puka Nacua, so maybe thatâs the type of receiver theyâre eyeing.
It wonât be long before we find out which playmaker will be the latest to join Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay and the Rams in L.A.
Which wide receivers are the Rams likely to draft in 2024?
The Rams are likely to draft Makai Lemon and Denzel Boston as potential wide receiver targets in the 2024 draft.
Why do teams think the Rams might draft Denzel Boston?
Teams believe the Rams might draft Denzel Boston because he could serve as a successor to their current receivers and may not be available by their second-round pick.
What is the significance of the Rams needing a No. 3 receiver?
The Rams need a No. 3 receiver to complement Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, especially as Adams approaches retirement or free agency.
