The Michigan Wolverines secured their second national championship with a 69-63 victory over UConn, finishing the season with a remarkable 37-3 record. Key moments included standout performances from players like Yaxel Lendeborg and Trey McKenney throughout the season.
The Michigan Wolverines won their second national championship in program history with a 69-63 win over UConn in Indianapolis. The win capped off a truly historic season for Michigan, as the team went 37-3 overall and 19-1 in Big Ten play, winning the loaded conference by four games.
This team is one of the best college basketball squads ever, and while itās going to be difficult to pick just 10, we are going to try to choose the best moments from the 2025-26 season that will live on forever.
No. 10: Yaxel Lendeborgās highlight dunk vs. Saint Louis
Kicking things off, we have Yaxel Lendeborgās thunderous dunk against Saint Louis. At this point, Michigan had some doubters after the Big Ten Tournament, and the Billikens were giving the Wolverines everything they could handle. After this dunk, Michigan pulled away for an easy win.
Yaxel Lendeborg will slip behind a lot of these Freshmen in the draft becuase of his age
You canāt tell me this dude doesnāt look like a future NBA All-Star
No. 9: Trey McKenneyās heroics knock off Nebraska
When Michigan hosted Nebraska back in January, the Cornhuskers were undefeated and ranked No. 5 in the country. Thanks to lights out shooting, they led for most of the game against Michigan. Trey McKenney had to take matters into his own hands, one of the most clutch freshman we have seen in a while.
#Michigan guard Trey McKenney hit a go-ahead shot in the final minutes to help secure a win over No. 5 Nebraska
Up next we have the blowout win at Mackey Arena against Purdue. Michigan had the lead in the Big Ten by a couple games, but this contest against the Boilermakers was the start of a grueling final stretch for the Wolverines. Michigan was favored by just 2.5 points, but after opening up a 20-point lead in the first half, the Wolverines never let Purdue back in it, winning 91-80.
No. 7: Tennessee beatdown
Michigan destroyed a lot of teams this season, but the Tennessee blowout was definitely one of the most satisfying. I personally have a deep hatred for Tennessee basketball (I donāt even remember why) but that made this victory extra special for me. The Final Four was on the line, and Michigan fans got to enjoy a stress-free afternoon.
No. 6: The Players Era Tournament
The Players Era Tournament in November is when the Wolverines officially put the Big Ten on notice. After some not-so-pretty wins against Wake Forest and TCU early in the year, it looked like Michigan was struggling to find its identity. Well, its identity was found during Feast Week in Las Vegas. The Wolverines rattled off three wins against San Diego State, Auburn and Gonzaga by a combined 110 points. Unreal.
Yaxel Lendeborg is hosting his own personal dunk contest against the No. 1 team in the KenPom ratings
The first objective for Michigan this season was to win the Big Ten. The Wolverines clinched at least a share of the conference title with a win at home against Minnesota, but that was not enough. They needed to win the conference outright, and the first chance to do that came on Feb. 27 at Illinois.
Prior to that game, the Fighting Illini had won their last nine games vs. Michigan. Michigan was favored by just 1.5 going into this one, but with 6:49 to go, it was 75-54 in favor of the Wolverines. Michigan easily clinched the conference crown on that night in Champaign.
No. 4: Yaxel Lendeborgās game-winner vs. Wisconsin
Michigan didnāt look great during the Big Ten Tournament, but Yaxel Lendeborgās game-winner vs. Wisconsin was awesome. The Badgers were the only Big Ten team to beat Michigan during the regular season, so Michigan needed this win to get a win over every team in the conference. After a ferocious late comeback by Wisconsin, Lendeborg put the team on his back.

No. 3: Elliot Cadeauās Breslin dagger
One of the toughest places to play in the country is the Breslin Center. Itās always fun to get a win there, and Michigan got it done this season for the first time in several years. After a dominant stretch in November and December, the Wolverines were starting to look a little bit more human going into this one. After blowing a 19-point lead, the Wolverines started to pull away down the stretch, and Elliot Cadeau sank the dagger into the Spartans.
Despite everything Michigan had accomplished, the haters were still in full force ahead of the Final Four vs Arizona. These two teams were on a collision course all season, and this game was essentially a toss-up on the sportsbooks. But after going up 10-1 to start the game ā and being up by as many as 30 points ā it was never close. Definitely the most satisfying victory of the season.
No. 1: Trey McKenney seals the natty
After playing their best ball throughout the NCAA Tournament, the Wolverines struggled against UConn in the National Championship. The biggest thing that stood out was the three-point shooting. Michigan had been lights out in every other tournament game, but they just couldnāt get them to drop against the Huskies.
Michigan finished just 2-of-15 from beyond the arc, but that second one was the biggest shot of the season, as McKenney hit the shot of the year to seal the deal.
I keep watching this Trey McKenney sequence from last night.
The defensive stop on one end, the DAGGER three on the other.
The freshman, in that moment, to make those plays back-to-back.
