Triston Casas injury: Chad Tracy reveals what’s next for Red Sox first baseman

Triston Casas has been rehabbing in Fort Myers as he continues to work his way back from a rib injury he suffered while trying to return from a torn patellar tendon.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy provided an update on the first baseman on Tuesday night prior to Boston’s 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Triston is supposed to see (the doctor) sometime later this week,” he said. “I think he’s going to see the doctor to re-eval what’s going on and we’ll go from there.”

Casas came into spring training recovering from a serious knee injury suffered last May and began the season on the 10-day injured list.

The first baseman’s knee was improving and. the strength of Casas’ knee was trending in the right direction. But he began to feel pain on his left side in April. He tried to resume swinging in April but was shut down.

Further testing showed Casas had an abdominal strain.
