On an 0-2 count in the top of the third inning in her second at-bat of the game against Nebraska, Grant yanked a pitch from Jordy Frahm to dead center for her fourth home run in the past five games, passing the 31-year-old record of Arizona legend Laura Espinoza.

It was the 38th home run of the season for Grant, and regardless of whether UCLA wins vs Nebraska, she won't be done yet with the Bruins bound for the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament.
Grant's tear allowed her to pass Oklahoma's slugging freshman Kendall Wells to break the record this season, with Wells sitting one homer behind Espinoza's fallen record at 36. Oklahoma was bounced from the SEC Softball Tournament on May 7 by Georgia in a 10-5 stunner.
Grant and the Bruins still have a lot of work to do this season. They've finished in fifth place in the Women's College World Series in four of the past five years. This year is about surpassing that goal. Grant has climbed to new individual heights. Now UCLA will focus on doing the same.
