Uli HoeneĂ expresses optimism about Bayern Munich's chances of winning another treble this season. The team is performing exceptionally well, recently breaking a long-standing scoring record and is close to securing the Bundesliga title and advancing in the DFB-Pokal and Champions League.

Bayern are essentially two wins away from clinching another Meisterschale and also have the DFB-Pokal semifinal at Bayer Leverkusen later this month after the small matter of the Champions League quarterfinals second leg vs. Real Madrid. There have been comparisons circulating on social media to Hansi Flickâs Sextuple team from the 2019/20 season with the way this current Bayern team has been performing, but none of that matters for the time being until silverware is secured.
In a recent interview with Kicker (via @iMiaSanMia), former Bayern club president Uli HoeneĂ spoke about the trophies Bayern is trying to win this season as crunch time is well and truly upon us. With Borussia Dortmundâs weekend loss to Bayer Leverkusen, itâs really now just a pair of wins that would do the job for Bayern in the Bundesliga, which HoeneĂ is more than well aware of. âNow we have the league title in the bag, the most important title of the season is ours for the taking,â he described of Bayern claiming another league title.
As far as the DFB-Pokal is concerned, itâs been far too long since Bayern has made it to the final in Berlin. They havenât been to the Olympiastadion for the final since the summer of 2020, when they beat Leverkusen 4-0 in the final shortly before winning the Champions League is Lisbon, Portugal. âThatâs an important goal, especially for our fans,â HoeneĂ bluntly said. Recent seasonâs blunders against the likes of Leverkusen (Manuel Neuer red card and loss), FC SaarbrĂŒcken, SC Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Holstein Kiel have left Bayern frustrated at having not progressed to the final for nearly six years, which needs to change this season.
As for the Champions League, despite how well Bayern played in the first leg against Real Madrid, thereâs every reason not to be overzealous or overconfident. The LaLiga giants have a famous history of remarkable comebacks in Europeâs biggest club competition and have overcome far more difficult odds than just a one-goal deficit. Nonetheless, itâs always a goal of Bayernâs to reach Champions League finals, where they havenât been since winning it vs. Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. In the semifinals, itâs either Liverpool or the Ligue 1 Champions standing in Bayernâs way of a trip to Budapest, Hungary at the Puskas Arena for the final.
