UNC basketball guard Luka Bogavac has entered the transfer portal and committed to Oklahoma State. This follows the departure of starting point guard Derek Dixon to Arizona, marking significant changes for the Tar Heels' roster.
Now in its second week of existence, the college basketball transfer portal is in full effect. UNC just landed its first portal commitment on Monday, from Virginia Tech freshman Neoklis Avdalas.
Bogavac, who previously played professionally in Europe, brought a needed scoring punch to North Carolina. Despite flip-flopping between the Tar Heels' bench and starting lineup, fans could expect 10 points on any given night from the European sharpshooter.
Bogavac scored a career-high 20 points during UNC's 67-63 win over Clemson on Senior Night, but struggled in postseason play, failing to hit double-digits in three losses. The best stretch in Bogavac's North Carolina career came early in non-conference play, when he hit double-digits in eight straight games, starting with a 19-point outing against Radford and ending with a 15-point game vs. USC Upstate.
Finishing his Tar Heel career averaging 9.8 points per game, Bogavac now heads to an Oklahoma State program with five straight losing seasons in Big 12 play. The Cowboys finished with an overall winning record last season, but lost every ranked matchup.
Bogavac was an important part of UNC's success, but not the difference-maker fans hoped him to be. Now in Stillwater, Bogavac now has the chance to become a leading option for head coach Steve Lutz.
