Rookie edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins had a good feeling about being selected by the New England Patriots in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Since the start of the draft, he told himself over and over again that he was going to be chosen by the Patriots at some point. And in the seventh round with the 247th overall pick, it actually happened.
"I've been saying since the draft started, 'I'm going to be a Patriot. I'm going to be a Patriot,'" Hutchins said, via Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller.
Hutchins was a key defender for Boston College, recording 35 combined tackles, two sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and one pass breakup in 10 game appearances. All in all, he finished off a college career that totaled 72 combined tackles, nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and one interception.
Now, Hutchins will have a chance to add a spark to the Patriots' struggling pass rush. The team also spent a second-round draft pick on Illinois edge rusher Gabe Jacas. So it would help tremendously if both rookies could contribute right out of the gate behind Harold Landry III and Dre'Mont Jones.
An already-strong Patriots defense got even stronger on draft weekend.
