The 12 minutes of mayhem where Man City threw the title race away
Man City’s title race takes a hit after a 12-minute collapse, with Arsenal now in the lead.
Florida baseball faces a challenging midweek matchup against UNF after losing three consecutive weekday games. The Gators, who started the season strong, are now looking to regain their footing against a competitive Ospreys team.
The final midweek matchup on Florida baseball's 2026 regular-season schedule arrives on Tuesday night, when the North Florida Ospreys come to Gainesville for their annual battle with the Gators on the clay diamond.
Typically, these non-conference affairs weigh heavily in favor of the Orange and Blue, but the team has struggled of late against some of the lower-tier teams it faced. Florida entered the end of March with an undefeated 10-0 record in midweek matchups after finishing a three-game sweep of the Florida State Seminoles, but has since dropped the last three weekday affairs.
Two of those recent losses came against the Jacksonville Dolphins, with a defeat at the hands of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats nestled in between. Another team from the River City could make life difficult for the Gators on Tuesday.
Looking at D1Baseball's SEC Midweek Game Watchability Index, which gives the game a 6.7 rating, the Ospreys present a formidable challenge for Kevin O'Sullivan's squad. UNF comes into play with a 26-20 record — the same current mark that JU has — and sits atop its conference entering the final two weeks of play.
"This probably doesn’t stand out as a marquee matchup in the minds of many, but North Florida is having a really strong season, as it leads the ASUN by two full games. This is also one of those games in which you know that the mid-major team is going to put a ton of effort into trying to pull the upset win."
While holding a two-game lead in the conference looks tidy on the outside, North Florida's record against fellow ASUN schools is just 13-11. Not to mention UF's all-time 23-7 mark against the Opsreys, having won 10 straight against them, seems to favor the Gators.
Still, Florida's recent flops against lesser Sunshine State opponents should have the team on high alert for an upset. Not only does UNF want to prevail over the state's flagship school, it will also be fighting to snap a five-year skid against Florida.
First pitch between the Gators and Ospreys is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 5, at Condron Family Ballpark. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+.
