âUSA TODAY Sports has ended its contractor relationship with Crissy Froyd effective immediately,â the outlet announced on its official X account April 16. âHer recent statements do not reflect our commitment to professionalism or uphold our principles of ethical conduct.â
Froyd was a staff writer for USA Today from 2017-21, according to her LinkedIn account, and a freelance contributor to the outlet since.

Russini announced her resignation on April 14, one week after the New York Post published photos of her with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel at an Arizona resort.
In a lengthy statement, Russini said she will be stepping aside due to the âself-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.â
Froydâs interpretation of the âfactsâ offered a sharp contrast.
âIâm sure you were told to submit this or that youâd get fired instead. Donât let the door hit you on the way out,â she wrote on X. âWe know who you really are and what youâve been up to for years. It does so much detriment to women in sports who have done things the right way.â

âSomeone once propositioned me to have Dianna potentially be my mentor. I declined because I knew what she was about and her track record,â Froyd told the Daily Caller. âI will say thereâs a line. ⊠Iâll be transparent and I would love to use this as the greatest example.
âI had a strong relationship with former QB JT Daniels that, as anyone would imagine under those circumstances, did include multiple sexual encounters and there was a lot involved,â Froyd continued. âHowever, JT and I didnât begin that relationship until after he was out of football. I can honestly say I have never slept with a player or coach for professional gain. Dianna cannot say the same. Thatâs where the difference is.â
Froyd has not posted since she was let go by USA Today.
