USC men’s basketball has already put together an extremely talented roster for next season. This week, it got even deeper when the Trojans reportedly landed another transfer portal addition in Evansville’s Joshua Hughes.
Hughes is originally from Australia. As a junior at Evansville this past season, he appeared in and started 32 games, averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
”The 6-foot-10 Australian gives the Trojans some depth, length and experience in the front court that will be fairly young in 2026-27,” Ahmad Akkoui of 247Sports wrote. “Hughes spent three seasons with the Purple Aces, starting 74 of the 99 games he played in those years. He averaged 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from behind the arc and 75 percent from the free throw line in 32 games as a junior. He averaged 7.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 32 contests as a sophomore, and he started 10 of 35 games as a freshman averaging 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.
“The Brisbane native played semi-professional ball in the NBL1 prior to his arrival in the states and averaged 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He also represented Australia in the U17 World Cup in 2022.”
Hughes is yet another talented addition to USC’s 2026-2027 roster. The Trojans should have a lot of depth next season, meaning that injuries will hopefully not be able to hinder the team the way that they did this past year.
