Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Patrick Corbin took the loss on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, surrendering two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings.

Corbin is now 1-2 with a respectable 3.60 ERA.

While Corbin's name appears next to the "L" in the box score, the real issue in this entire series was the Toronto offense.

As noted by Brian Murphy of MLB.com, Toronto had just four runs in three games against the Rays - a sweep. That's six straight losses for Toronto at Tropicana Field, dating back to 2024, and the Jays have lost eight of nine there. They've got only 12 runs in those eight losses.

With regards to Corbin, it looks like he's going to continue to earn starting opportunities. Signed out of necessity in April, the prevailing thought was that Corbin would be released or sent to the bullpen once the Jays got healthy, but they have continued to not get healthy.

Max Scherzer is still on the injured list with forearm and ankle issues, and he says his forearm is not responding well. He's headed for more doctor consultations.

Shane Bieber is on the injured list with forearm fatigue and hasn't even progressed to facing live hitters yet.

Jose Berrios, who was throwing on rehab games at Triple-A, is headed for an MRI on his still-ailing elbow.

All of that likely means that Corbin will remain in the rotation at the age of 36.
