Victor Wembanyama has fully backed up the immense hype surrounding him by putting together a historic statistical resume while leading the San Antonio Spurs deep into the postseason. His dominance continues to win games, and even opposing players across the league are beginning to acknowledge that he operates on an entirely different level.
One of those voices is Dillon Brooks, who made a big statement about the Spurs superstar.
“Once Wemby gets his first MVP, you won’t see anyone else get it,” Brooks said.
Wembanyama proved his elite caliber in Game 5 as well with a magnificent performance, finishing with 27 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. In doing so, he also became the first Spurs player since Tim Duncan in 2002 to post at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in the first half of a playoff game.
Wembanyama made himself one of the league’s most dominant two-way forces, averaging 25 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 blocks for the Spurs. His impact has already placed him firmly among the top three MVP candidates alongside .

“He keeps f*king up the play where a little guard comes and sets the screen and he comes off of it, and no one switches on him, and he just gets one dribble, and he’s crossing the rim,” Brooks added. “I’m the real straps for Wemby. I’m telling you, go search up his numbers against me, they’re really low. I’ve got to see him now, I haven’t seen him this year.”
Wembanyama is now only in his second playoff run, as he is already altering how defenses are constructed and how the game is played. His rise has even drawn high praise from Hall of Famer Paul Pierce, who went as far as calling the Spurs star the most complete player the league has ever seen.
