Vikings considered favorites to host the 2028 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft has cemented itself as part of our country's Americana, alongside apple pie, baseball, and the Super Bowl. The sport of football has cemented itself as the benchmark sport, as it controls a day of the week, as the movie Concussion so elegantly put, and it has gotten to that point due to the efforts of making the NFL Draft the event it is.

It was reported recently, now that the 2026 installment has come and gone, that the NFL has eyes on where it may be held in 2028. The city of Minneapolis has emerged as the favorite, with the Vikings playing a major role in that. According to a report from Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, the league could vote to cement those plans as soon as May 19th at the next batch of Owners' Meetings.

Fischer also shared that the league may have to start planning further ahead by two years to be prepared to bring the draft to new cities. He wrote, "Also, sources said, it’s possible the NFL looks to award two drafts at the same time, or in relatively short order. If that happens, some sources said Cincinnati has the inside track for 2029, but there is less clarity around whether the NFL is prepared to do that now."

We have seen the draft go to every NFC North city in recent years since the draft moved out of New York City. They would be the only division to have every team host with Chicago, Detroit, and Green Bay doing it in years prior.
