CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Philadelphia 76ers will be staring elimination in the face on Sunday afternoon when they play host to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of Round 2. The Sixers trail the Knicks 3-0--a deficit no team in NBA history has ever rallied from to win--and will need to stare down elimination four times and come out on top each time to advance in these playoffs.
The Sixers did just rally from being down 3-1 against the Boston Celtics in Round 1 of the playoffs, but 3-0 is much different than 3-1. This team knows it, but the Sixers also aren't running from it either.
"A series is never over until someone wins four games," said rookie VJ Edgecombe. "Weâre gonna continue to go out there and play hard. Clean up the little mistakes that we've made in previous games and just go from there."
"Weâre present in a moment," said Edgecombe. "We know it's not easy. It's not easy at all. That's a well-disciplined, well-coached team. A really good team. So we just got to just keep moving forward, keep trying to get better every day."
The Sixers have been a resilient bunch all season long that has stuck together no matter the situation. This group has been able to battle through every obstacle and every challenge in front of them. Now is not the time to splinter and fall apart. The Sixers are counting on each other in this moment.
"I think now this is where you really have to dig deep on your principles and kind of figure out what you're made of," added Dominick Barlow. "It's not a time to point fingers or drift apart. This is where we got to kind of really bury down and come together as a group."
Game 4 is at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia. If the Sixers can win, it will force a Game 5 back at Madison Square Garden in New York on Tuesday evening.
No team in NBA history has ever rallied from a 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series, making the Sixers' situation highly challenging.
VJ Edgecombe stated that the series isn't over until someone wins four games and emphasized the importance of playing hard and improving on mistakes.
Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, where the Sixers will attempt to avoid elimination.
