But one play from the fourth quarter has got everyone's attention because of his father’s poker face.
With San Antonio leading 106-91 and 3:24 left on the clock, Portland's Deni Avdija attempted a floater in the lane and it normally works against almost every center in the league.
Wemby didn't just reject it. He spiked it so hard and so high that ESPN announcer Dave Pasch yelled, "Spiked! Into the 15th row." Broadcaster Doris Burke added that the 22-year-old might be the all-time toughest grader on himself if that play doesn't get a reaction out of him.
The broadcast camera famously cut to his father, Felix, who finally showed a "wow" reaction after remaining stoic through previous scoring plays. Pasch narrated it in real time, saying, "Even his dad says 'Wow.'"

His father has watched him block shots since he was a teenager in France, so a typical rejection doesn't usually move him. Seeing him visibly make a poker face highlights that this was a rare display of timing and reach that few other players can match.
Meanwhile, the Blazers struggled, shooting just 35.1% from the field and 23.4% from deep. While Deni Avdija scored 22 points, he finished at minus-20 with four turnovers. Portland simply had no answer against San Antonio’s height and long arm.
The 22-year-old Wembanyama finished the series averaging 21.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks. The Spurs now advance to the Western Conference Semifinals to face the Minnesota Timberwolves, who closed out their series against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night with a 110–98 Game 6 win.
