Washington basketball hosted Saint Mary's transfer Mikey Lewis for an official visit, as the Huskies seek to strengthen their roster. Lewis, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 13.9 points per game and was named to the All-WCC First Team.
The Washington Huskies hosted one of the top guards in the transfer portal for an official visit on Sunday when Saint Mary's transfer Mikey Lewis made his way to Montlake.
The 6-foot-3 guard, who averaged 13.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game during his sophomore season with the Gaels, has put together a decorated career during his two seasons in the WCC. As a freshman during the 2024-25 season, he was named the conference's Sixth Man of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team, before his second campaign earned him a spot on the All-West Coast Conference First Team.
Now, as the Huskies look to overhaul their roster through the transfer portal, coach Danny Sprinkle is competing with Vanderbilt to land Lewis' commitment in a backcourt that needs a lot of scoring help around junior Wesley Yates III.
After losing Quimari Peterson to graduation, along with the trio of sophomore Zoom Diallo and freshmen JJ Mandaquit and Courtland Muldrew to the transfer portal, Sprinkle is looking for several impact scorers, a role that Lewis, who is ranked as the No. 66 overall player and No. 10 combo guard in the portal by 247Sports, should be able to fill.
"Heās a tough shot-maker from long-range who is particularly adept at shooting off the dribble, which gives him a lot of potential to be a weapon coming off ball-screens at the next level," 247Sports' Adam Finklestein wrote in his evaluation.
"He has enough versatility to play both on and off the ball at times, but tends to be upright as a handler and a bit turnover-prone. He has some positional size, but is relatively lean with limited sheer explosiveness, and so he doesnāt put a ton of pressure on the rim. He doesnāt rate as an especially efficient finisher inside traffic, but is crafty enough to compensate at times. Lewis is a good rebounding guard who utilizes his length to get steals and deflections on the defensive end."
After shooting 37.1 percent from three-point range during his two years with the Gaels, Lewis would also make a formidable combination from deep with UW's first transfer portal acquisition, Davidson guard Parker Friedrichsen, who announced his pledge to the Huskies on Sunday night.
