Wayne Rooney on what he noticed about Chelsea players in Brighton win

Wayne Rooney has said Chelsea’s players didn’t look too concerned after Liam Rosenior was sacked in midweek.

The latest episode of Wayne Rooney’s podcast is out, looking back at the results from the weekend and giving his take on the Chelsea situation.

The Blues came off a run of defeats, but following the sacking of their manager immediately raised their games and beat Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup semi final. Rooney said he had felt sadness at times in his career when coaches were sacked, but hadn’t detected that in Chelsea’s cheery demeanour.

Rooney on Chelsea players’ responses

“I’ve been there as a player when a manager’s been sacked and I’d felt sad, like I’m part of the problem and part of why they’ve been sacked,” the former Man U striker said.

“But I was watching the Chelsea players and I didn’t seem to see that in them – there seemed to be a relief. I guess it happens, but that’s where as a player you need to look at yourself as well.”

The way this group forced another coach out was pretty obvious and pretty shameful. We can’t imagine they cried any tears for Rosenior.
